Western Australia - Why Choose Broome as a Holiday Destination

Broome sits on the coast of Western Australia some 2200 kilometres north of Perth.  Broome is a small, but rapidly expanding town, and has a fascinating history.  Broome started growing as a town in the 19th century and owes its development to the pearling industry.  There are still many reminders of the pearling industry in Broome today, and you can learn about Broome's pearling past in Broome Museum or at the exhibition at the Pearl Luggers.  Alternatively, go on a trip to Willie Creek Pearl Farm and take a boat trip to learn all about pearling.

Broome is also home to the world famous Cable Beach and you can sunbathes, swim, surf or just walk for miles along the silver sands.  Broome has a wide range of accommodation from the luxury of the 5* Cable Beach Club, through self-catering apartments to basic back-packer dorms.  Broome is the gateway to the Kimberley region and many of the tours start in Broome.  One day tours can take you to Cape Leveque, Windjana Gorge, or Geiki Gorge.  Or you can book longer trips that last several days.  Check out Kimberley Wild for an awesome range of itineraries.  For those who really want to walk on the wild side visit the crocs at the Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park.

If you are very lucky, you will be in Broome at the time when the haunting natural phenomena known as 'Staircase to the Moon' lights up the night sky.
